GISMA welcomes first intake of 2023

GISMA University of Applied Sciences kicked off the new year with a bang, welcoming its first intake of students for 2023, with a series of exciting events designed to help them hit the ground running in their new student lives.

From the 17 to the 19 January, students enrolling in undergraduate and postgraduate engineering, business, and tech degrees at GISMA, including the highly regarded AMBA Accredited Global MBA, were treated to a thrilling introduction to the university and the city of Potsdam.

The students were first given a guided tour of Potsdam, where they got to explore the historic sites of the city, including the magnificent Sanssouci Palace, Germany's largest World Heritage Site.

Once they reached GISMA's state-of-the-art campus, they were treated to a demonstration of Hilde, the robot chef available for all GISMA students, and got to sample a delicious menu of currywurst with roasted potatoes, a vegetarian lentil halloumi bowl, and a vegan sesame pasta dish.

The highlight of the day was a rousing welcome speech from GISMA President, Professor Dr Stefan Stein. In his speech, Professor Stein reminded the students that they are the leaders of tomorrow and that their time at GISMA would be a period of growth and development, one that they would not ever forget.

GISMA student representatives also gave speeches, Pritika presented the Entrepren student club, previously “Start-up hub”, where students can exchange business ideas in a safe space, take part in international start-up competitions and hone their entrepreneurial skills. Finally, the Student Service team ran a quiz to energise the students, and the Career Centre presented their department, to give all students the best opportunity to develop their career prospects.
