Strengthening International Business Connections: Gisma’s New Partnership with GIZ

In a significant step towards fostering global collaboration, the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) has appointed Gisma University of Applied Sciences in a three-year partnership to become one of the selected FBZ (premier educational development centers). This collaboration, under the “Partnering in Business” initiative, is focused on supporting German small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by connecting them with seasoned international CEOs. By fostering these connections, GIZ and Gisma aim to create an ecosystem where German SMEs can thrive in a globalised economy, learning directly from successful business leaders worldwide. Additionally, international SME leaders are being connected to Germany and can experience management science hands-on by interacting with Gisma faculty and staff.

Creating Bridges for SMEs

Germany’s SMEs, known as the Mittelstand, are a backbone of the national economy. However, expanding into international markets and adopting global business practices can pose challenges. The partnership between Gisma, and GIZ will support these businesses by bridging cultural and professional gaps, facilitating the sharing of international expertise, and providing access to global networks. Through workshops, executive programmes, and networking events, German SME leaders will gain insights from CEOs who have successfully navigated diverse markets, enabling them to apply innovative strategies and broaden their global reach. On the other side, international companies are often looking for German organisations to partner with, for diverse reasons like entering the European market or making use of technological advancements.

Building a Foundation for Executive Education

Gisma University of Applied Sciences and GIZ, committed to high-quality, industry-relevant education, are integrating this collaboration as a long-term approach. For Gisma this is another building block towards executive education. This approach is designed to equip German business leaders with the skills necessary to operate and excel on the international stage. By offering specialised programmes and tailored learning experiences, international executives will receive training in areas such as intercultural communication, international trade regulations, sustainable business practices, and digital transformation.

The Role of GIZ in Supporting Knowledge Exchange

GIZ, known for its role in facilitating development and cooperation, brings its extensive expertise to this partnership, providing a solid framework for knowledge transfer. GIZ’s established networks and its commitment to sustainability align with Gisma’s mission to foster responsible leadership and sustainable business practices. By leveraging GIZ’s insights and resources, the partnership will offer German SMEs and international business leaders unparalleled access to international best practices, enabling them to navigate complex business landscapes and embrace sustainable, growth-oriented strategies.

Partnering for a Global Future

As a recognised partner organisation within the “Partnering in Business” network, Gisma’s collaboration with GIZ emphasises the dedication to making global markets accessible to German companies and facilitating more sustainable international connections. This initiative is more than just a business opportunity—it’s a chance for German SMEs to develop resilient, adaptable business models, ensuring they remain competitive and sustainable in the global economy. Furthermore, it is an opportunity for international companies to connect and develop on a sustainable path with one of the leading economies of the world.

Through this three-year journey, Gisma, and GIZ will continue to strengthen international ties, drive innovation, and empower organisations, contributing to a future where business is truly global and collaborative.
