GISMA President Welcomes New Intake and Opens Brand New Potsdam Campus

Gisma - Business School

On Wednesday, GISMA Business School President, Prof. Dr. Stefan Stein held two welcome speeches for the new intake of GISMA University of Applied Sciences students. The morning speech was held via Teams for all the students unable to travel to Germany and starting their academic journey with GISMA remotely. In the afternoon, students in Germany were addressed in person, at GISMA’s brand-new campus in Potsdam.

Dr. Stein quoted Confucius, the Chinese philosopher during his speeches, “When you walk along with two others, from at least one you will be able to learn.” The motto seemed fitting for the first students of GISMA University, who will be working collaboratively in person on campus, and remotely in our virtual campus.

Classrooms at GISMA Potsdam are well equipped to blend the virtual and in-person teaching for all students, regardless of their location. Therefore, students from all over the world will feel infused with the “GISMA spirit”, feel part of this flagship campus, and create bonds with one another.

The GISMA President closed the speeches by thanking the GISMA Team who made this occasion possible and welcomed the students to the GISMA Family. In line with the Confucius quote, Stefan encouraged students to work together, to respect the diversity, and to lever the potential of the variety.

Students in the packed auditorium in Potsdam were treated to pizza and refreshments after the speech, whilst having the opportunity to network with fellow students and faculty members. Many students also challenged each other to a game of Tischfuβball, which was a welcome break during their first week of teaching. Students gave very positive feedback, and were excited about life at GISMA in Potsdam.
