Gisma University of Applied Sciences Joins Global Leaders at the 32nd CEEMAN Annual Conference 2024
Gisma University of Applied Sciences was honoured to participate in the 32nd CEEMAN Annual Conference, marking a significant milestone as a new member of the Central and Eastern European Association for Management Development (CEEMAN). The conference, hosted by MCI The Entrepreneurial School in Innsbruck, Austria, gathered prominent figures from the global management education sector to share insights, challenges, and innovations.
Our President, Prof. Dr. Ramon O’Callaghan, along with Vice President of Partnerships and Collaborations, Prof. Dr. Peter Konhausner, represented Gisma at this prestigious event. Their involvement underscores our commitment to fostering collaboration and enhancing the quality of business education. Throughout the conference, they engaged in fruitful discussions with international peers, exchanging ideas on the evolving landscape of management education and the importance of adapting to the needs of today’s learners.
The conference featured inspiring speeches and engaging discussions that spanned a wide range of topics and perspectives — from AI to Quantum Computing and from Entrepreneurship to Life-long Learning, from Kazakhstan to China and from Austria to the United States. Notable contributions included innovative approaches to fostering entrepreneurship by sending students into rural areas, advancements in quantum computing, and the role of hidden champions in disrupting ecosystems.
AI emerged as a recurring theme, often referred to as “the elephant in the room,” as discussions revolved around its usage, potential abuse, adaptation, and adoption in the business landscape.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to Andreas Altmann, Danica Purg, Aigerim Kaumenova, and the entire organising team for their warm hospitality and meticulously planned programme. The conference offered a range of sessions, workshops, and networking opportunities, allowing participants to delve into various topics, including sustainable management practices, innovative teaching methods, and the integration of technology in education.
One of the key takeaways from the conference was the emphasis on the further need for educational institutions to evolve in response to the rapid changes in the global business environment. This aligns perfectly with Gisma’s mission to equip our students with the skills and knowledge necessary to succeed in an increasingly complex (VUCA) world.
As we return from this enriching experience, we are excited to implement the insights gained and continue enhancing the educational journey for our students. By collaborating with thought leaders and drawing from global perspectives, we aim to prepare our graduates for success in their future careers and contribute positively to the business landscape.
We look forward to next year’s conference, which will take place in beautiful Tirana, Albania, and we are eager to continue engaging with this truly international community.
