Bilfinger LTM CFO discusses negotiation strategies at Dean’s Evening

Gisma - Business School

Mr. Rainer’s lecture focused on some of the major myths about negotiation and deal-making which he went on to dissect one by one before sharing his recommendations and conclusions.

Rainer views negotiations not as do-or-die battles but more as a game of chess where considerable thought has to go into every possible outcome. He also believes you must make every effort to understand the opposing player, and respect each other’s strengths and weaknesses.

Rainer provided some valuable insights and ideas along with some humour and humility, as well as drawing out the ethical implications of negotiations and deal-making.Kristina Horn, GISMA alumna and marketing specialist at DACH SAPPI AG, who was present at the evening commented: “The lectures are not just ground-breaking but offer tools and techniques which one can use in day-to-day personal and professional life. In fact, I would gladly pay for such a lecture.”The event was graced by GISMA students, alumni, corporate partners and GISMA employees and friends.

The session culminated in a wine and cheese reception providing excellent networking opportunities for all.

GISMA hopes to organise more events such as this in order to empower and inspire our community of students and alumni. Talks like these are beneficial to raise awareness of trending business topics as well as creating a fantastic networking environment.
