Professor Dr Mazhar Hameed
Prof. Dr. Mazhar Hameed is a highly regarded Professor of Software Engineering. His research focuses on the design and deployment of scalable data cleaning pipelines, which play a critical role in building robust data science workflows. His expertise extends to key areas such as data quality, data integration, machine learning for table representation, and distributed computing.
Prof. Dr. Hameed’s contributions to the field are widely recognised, with his work published in leading data management venues, including PVLDB, SIGMOD, EDBT, CIKM, and SIGMOD Record. His PhD research received multiple recognitions, including Best Paper Awards and Research Highlights Awards at prominent conferences. He has also served as a reviewer for several major academic conferences.
He completed his PhD in Data Science and Engineering at the Hasso Plattner Institute, University of Potsdam, Germany. He also holds an MSc in Software Engineering and a BSc in Computer Science. Prior to joining Gisma, he gained experience in both academia and industry, working as a lecturer and Data & AI Lab Assistant Director, as well as a Senior Software Engineer in the recommendation and stock analysis sector.
Prof. Dr. Hameed’s combination of academic expertise and practical industry experience enables him to lead innovative research and effectively mentor future software engineers and data scientists at Gisma University of Applied Sciences.
