Tips on how to stay motivated

The recent outbreak of the COVID-19 virus has brought the entire world to a standstill. At GISMA Business School, we value the wellbeing of our students over everything else and are therefore placing huge emphasis on the growing urgency for social–distancing and self-isolating during this sensitive time. We are also aware that students often struggle with the motivation to learn during quarantine.

If you are currently struggling to channel your energies constructively, then here are some amazing tips to stay focused and upbeat while being quarantined at home.

In terms of staying motivated, the importance of starting early and afresh should never be neglected. While staying in bed could sound tempting, having structure and routine will help you stay motivated, reduce the chance of procrastination, and also keep you in a healthy state of mind. Make sure that you start your day with energy and a positive attitude which will automatically make you more productive.

General Motivation Tips for Students:

Make a schedule: Write down everything that you want to achieve during the day which can include daily lessons, work or even writing your journal. This will help you mentally stay updated with your tasks and give you a sense of accomplishment at the end of the day.

Make use of study apps: Online learning platforms are also a great way to keep up with coursework as they make learning a fun activity. There are various popular applications such as GoConqr, Quizlet, Evernote and others available online that you can use for this purpose. These apps are filled with mind maps, puzzles, flashcards and practise tests that helps make solitary studying an exciting experience.

Take up a new hobby: Use the surplus hours that are generally spent commuting to engage in interesting activities such as gardening, cooking or even painting. This creative outlet can act as a factor of motivation for students and help them stay centred.

Tips on Staying Active whilst Self-Isolating

Self-motivation for students also includes physical wellbeing where regular exercise is important. Home workouts are all the more pivotal when you are deprived of stepping outside and some amazing apps can help you stay fit from the comfort of your own home.

Yoga Studio – Mind & Body: offers you customised and guided yoga classes that are based on different levels and the kind of poses you wish to practise.

Couch to 5K: This app takes you through very basic and well laid out routine of exercise where you are encouraged to ingrain simple but effective work out techniques to your day.

Map my fitness: Here you can find a range of different workouts to choose from which you enjoy from the comfort of your own home. It also has additional features like heart rate monitoring and analysis that help you keep a track of your health.

Here at GISMA, we cannot emphasise the importance staying fit mentally, physically and emotionally enough during these unprecedented times. We are dedicated to supporting you professionally and personally, so please feel free to get in touch with any concerns you may have and we will be happy to help.
