Gisma University of Applied Sciences Joins the Global PRME Initiative: Leading the Change for Sustainable and Responsible Business Education

At Gisma University of Applied Sciences, we are proud to announce that we have officially joined the Principles for Responsible Management Education (PRME) as a Signatory Member. This important milestone reflects our unwavering commitment to fostering sustainability, ethics, and responsible leadership within all our business education initiatives.
PRME, launched in 2007 during the UN Global Compact Leaders’ Summit in Geneva, stands as the largest collaboration between the United Nations and global business schools. Its primary mission is to integrate the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into academic institutions, encouraging the next generation of leaders to prioritise sustainability and ethical practices.

What PRME Membership Means for Gisma?

As a PRME Signatory Member, Gisma joins a distinguished network of universities and business schools around the world which are committed to transforming business education. Through our partnership with PRME, we will continue to actively promote sustainable practices within our curriculum, research, and campus initiatives, equipping our students with the skills and mindsets necessary to navigate complex global challenges.
Being part of PRME also enables us to work more closely with UN Global Compact participants, aligning our educational efforts with businesses emphasising sustainability. This collaboration not only enhances our students’ employability opportunities but ensures they graduate with a clear mindset of social and environmental responsibility.

Leading the Way for Responsible Future Leaders

Joining PRME reinforces our dedication to providing students with the tools they need to thrive in a dynamic global economy. From sustainable business practices to ethical decision-making, our curriculum will further integrate the principles set out by PRME, ensuring that our students not only excel academically but are also equipped to lead responsibly.
As a business school that continuously strives for innovation, Gisma’s alignment with PRME underscores our long-term vision of preparing future leaders who can address pressing global challenges such as climate change, inequality, and social justice.

Moving Forward Together

As we embark on this exciting journey with PRME, we look forward to expanding our efforts in creating a positive impact. Through collaborative projects, workshops, and partnerships with responsible businesses, Gisma will continue to empower students to develop sustainability-driven solutions to global problems (see also our different events in the Skills Sprint Weeks).
Becoming a PRME Signatory Member is not just a recognition of Gisma’s ongoing commitment to sustainability—it is a promise that we will continue to educate and inspire the next generation of responsible leaders. Together, we are building a more sustainable and equitable future.
