Over 120 guests attended, which included a mix of students, education agents, corporate partners, GISMA staff and academics. Founder and Chief Executive Officer of GUS, Aaron Etingen, and Portfolio Managing Director, Boaz Arbel, were also in attendance.

All guests were offered a tour of the impressive, new campus, which includes collaborative learning spaces, a Mac pool and state-of-the-art classrooms designed for hybrid teaching.

GISMA President, Professor Dr Stefan Stein, said in his welcome speech: “The new campus has come alive and all students are incredibly passionate about studying at GISMA. I am very proud working for this university, and how many things we could move as a team in such a short period of time.”

Professor Dr Stein also thanked the Brandenburg government for welcoming GISMA in Potsdam with arms open and for helping the Hochschule through the jungle of German bureaucracy.

During the event, GISMA President coined the phrase “GISMA Love” as so much of it could be felt throughout the building, and as a form of congratulations for one student who had chosen Potsdam’s world heritage park of Sanssouci for his marriage proposal just a few days earlier.

Following his speech, Professor Dr Stein said: “This building is a smart building that is full of innovation and creativity. It was so incredible to see today our students so excited. Something has happened. Before it was just a building and now the students, and all of the GISMA Team, fill this building with life and that is so great to see.”

Keynote speaker, Uwe Schüler, State Secretary of the Ministry of the Interior and Local Government, summarised the event by saying: “Great campus, completely modern, this will enrich the university landscape enormously.”

The State Secretary also said: “230 international students from 55 countries; that’s fantastic for Potsdam, the region and the state of Brandenburg.”

Jeffery Lovejoy, Talent Acquisition Lead at Zalando SE also shared his thoughts: “What a fantastic facility for students to come and grow and learn and hopefully come joining Zalando after they graduate. The energy here has been fantastic. You just feel the energy from the students, the excitement for them for actually come and join and continue developing their future career at GISMA.”
