Potsdam is known for technological innovation, economic growth, a unique culture, and a high standard of living.
Potsdam, the culture-rich capital of Brandenburg is the city with the second-highest growth rate in Germany. It is well-known for its booming economy and abundance of leisure activities.
Students benefit from being close to international giants such as Tesla and SAP, and the highly innovative energy of the city born out of the unique combination of academic excellence and entrepreneurial spirit. Software & IT, Film & Media, Life Science, and Healthcare further characterize Potsdam’s forward-thinking economic profile.
Being a city of UNESCO World Heritage, it is also no wonder that Potsdam is a tourism magnet, and it invites its inhabitants, guests, and students to enjoy the historic town quarters and gardens, impressive castles, music, and theatre festivals, and of course the numerous scenic lakes. Students can relax in their study breaks by enjoying the scenic forests, lakes, and castles in Potsdam.
Just outside of Potsdam beautiful Brandenburg offers numerous opportunities for day trips and relaxation: Brandenburg boasts over 3,000 lakes and 33,000 km of waterways, as well as medieval towns, specialist museums, and industrial culture sights.
Finally, Germany’s capital Berlin is reachable in 20 minutes from the Potsdam central station, and the international BER airport in about 40 minutes by car so that students living in Potsdam can get the best of both worlds.
With a thriving economy and exceptionally high quality of life score, Germany remains the number 1 choice for international students in Europe. As a country built on manufacturing, Germany is now expanding its horizons and becoming just as well known for finance, tech, and innovation. With this dynamic growth, exceptional employers of all sizes and from all industries have a high need for highly qualified employees. International students are warmly welcomed in Germany and are offered the popular 18-month post-study visa available for non-EU students upon graduation.
