Director of Quality and Compliance (f/m/d)

As member of Gisma’s senior management team, the postholder will be responsible and accountable for leading and managing risk-based enhancement- and compliance- led assurance service, across the operationalisation of all activities relating to academic quality assurance and enhancement at Gisma.

Location: Potsdam with sub-campus in Berlin

Key Activities & Responsibilities:

  • Ensure that quality assurance requirements and processes are developed in line with national standards and that academic standards and quality processes are set and maintained at an appropriate level and satisfy the requirements and standards of external agencies
  • Manage the University’s relationship with the external quality bodies and manage preparations and organisation for external quality reviews
  • Advise and contribute as necessary to the development of academic regulations and university policies
  • Develop and enhance the partnership with academic partners in the context of agreed quality assurance processes
  • Assume overall responsibility for the development and implementation of the University’s academic quality assurance strategies, procedures, policies and related regulations, including the management of related information and data
  • Ensure the effective delivery of academic quality assurance activity for the University and ensure appropriate structures for the provision of professional support to Faculty colleagues
  • Monitor changes to the national regulatory framework for quality assurance, and more general developments in the HE sector, advise senior staff and propose action to be taken by the University in response
  • Ensure that the quality of teaching and learning practices are maintained
  • Ensure adherence to regulations set by other governing bodies within Germany, as needed, to fortify the university’s overall compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
  • Support the University presidium in decision making and information provision

You

  • Preferably educated to Master’s level with academic or professional qualifications in Educational Management or equivalent experience
  • Substantial experience of managing quality assurance/enhancement in higher education within Germany and preferably internationally
  • Experience of external regulatory visits, reviews and report writing
  • Proficiency in English at level C1 and German at level C2
  • You are characterized by a distinct strategic and conceptual way of thinking, transparency, persuasiveness, and communication skills.
  • International travel may be required as part of the development of the individual in this role.
