Last month, the Magellan MBA class in Hannover gave presentations on their home countries to begin a series of studium generale (general studies).
The Magellan class includes students from countries such as Mexico, India, Germany, Egypt, Turkey, Lebanon, Syria and Belarus. The presentations gave them the opportunity to learn about a broad range of topics from the different countries. The students asked each other many questions, with subjects ranging from the history of the Maya and traditions in Mexico to the foundation of Germany as a nation-state.
They were particularly surprised to learn that the unification of Germany only officially occurred on 18 January 1871, which according to student Heiko Teiken is something that most Germans don’t know.
The students also brought food from their respective countries, which they shared with the programme management team.
