Dr. John Paul Kawalek works as a consultant supporting organisations with their approach to digital transformation using the Systems Thinking strategy. Dr. Kawalek has a strong technical background in blockchain, digital data analytics and machine learning. He has a programming background and is proficient in Python, Django, Jupyter, PhP, Javascript, data structures and database architecture.

Dr. Kawalek launched his career in the manufacturing sector as a Programmer/Analyst, progressing onto Systems Analyst, and advancing to Senior Systems Analyst. Afterwards, he worked as an IT Consultant and he gained a wider scope of experience in projects of change at various organisations. Dr. Kawalek has international experience of working at universities in multiple countries including UK, France, Australia, Singapore, Hong Kong, USA and Kazakhstan.

Whilst he was working in the University sector, he was the Director of MBA programmes and Head of Department for a Russell Group University in the UK. Dr. Kawalek has authored over 50 academic papers and two books.

Prior to GISMA, Dr. Kawalek had been working as a Senior Industry Adviser at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. At present, he is an Affiliate Professor at the Grenoble Ecole de Management in France, and an Associate Professor at the University of Law in London. He is a non-executive Director at two companies in the UK and is the Managing Director of CrowditBuildit Ltd.
