Gisma University celebrates graduation day

Last month, Gisma University of Applied Sciences was thrilled to celebrate its graduation ceremony at its serene and beautiful campus in Potsdam.

An inspiring 97 students, pioneers of their respective fields, received their well-earned postgraduate degrees, including graduates from the distinguished and AMBA accredited Global MBA programme.

The day saw a harmonious blend of physical and virtual attendees, as students, their families, and friends joined the commemorative event both in person and online, demonstrating the spirit of adaptability and resilience honed during their academic journey at Gisma.

The ceremony was graced by the profound wisdom of Professor Dr Stefan Stein, Gisma President, who reflected on the unique and momentous journey embarked upon by the students. His emotive speech was particularly poignant as he addressed some of the very first students of Gisma University, reminiscing the legacy they have created and the path they've forged for future learners.

Adding to the richness of the day was the keynote address by Virginie Briand, Partner of Creative Consulting at Deloitte. Virginie Briand, known for her exceptional work in communications, imbued her speech with admiration for the graduates and the audacity of their accomplishments. In a delightful surprise, she took a memorable selfie with the students, reinforcing her belief in the communicative power of imagery, a beautiful token of this momentous occasion for the students.

The ceremony's special highlights included an honorary professorship awarded to Karsten Hollasch, Partner and Global Lead Partner Private Equity in Financial Advisory at Deloitte. The accolade stands as an acknowledgement of his exemplary contributions to the field of finance and his alignment with Gisma’s educational ethos.

The event concluded with the traditional cap throwing ceremony, a symbolic representation of the transition from students to alumni, followed by a reception allowing the Gisma community to mingle and reflect on their journeys.
