The full-time MBA curriculum at GISMA Business School consists of five modules of eight weeks each. There are core courses and electives. In addition students are offered to take part in several exchange programs during their studies. Students are allocated credit hours for each course successfully completed. An MBA student must have a total of at least 48 credit hours in order to graduate. The core courses comprise 34 credit hours, the remaining 14 can be attained through the successful completion of electives.
Since admission is open to individuals with no managerial experience whatsoever, the curriculum initially places a strong emphasis on management fundamentals, with a gradual shift towards more elective courses and increasing specialization over time.

Gearing up for the real world
The GISMA curriculum takes its cues from challenges faced by today’s corporations, with a major emphasis on teaching practical skills. Case studies, group assignments and simulations are all among the experiential methods used to ensure that students are exposed to a maximum of intercultural, interdisciplinary teamwork and problem-solving. This not only enables graduates to fully apply what they have learned, but also to acquire important soft skills with regard to communication, negotiation and teambuilding.
Students can enrich their learning experience by tapping into a worldwide network of contacts at global enterprises - contacts from a great variety of disciplines.
Forum Days are another way to gain valuable insight: One day a week, guest speakers come to share their business experience with GISMA students and illustrate the true meaning of applied management. Excursions give students up-close exposure to the real world, e.g. by seeing robotics in action at Volkswagen factories, live production at Continental, steel plant work procedures or business in action at the German Stock Exchange.

The Consulting Project is a highly recommended elective in which students master real business challenges in small teams, under the guidance of a professor and in close interaction with the company involved. This four-month assignment calls upon students to apply everything they have learned: critical thinking, case analysis, quantitative methods and at the end of the project decision-making on the basis of sound data.
For example, our students have worked with the following companies:
Airbus, Atel Energy, Baerlocher, Bahlsen, Bertelsmann, British American Tobacco, Carl Zeiss Meditec, Celanese, Cisco Systems, U.S., Compuware, U.S., Continental, Deutsche Bahn, Deutsche Krankenversicherung, ERGO Versicherungsgruppe, Georgsmarienhütte, IBM, Sartorius, Siemens, Spezial Chemie Leuna, TUI, Volkswagen, Volkswagen Nutzfahrzeuge, XEROX.
