GISMA holds Farewell Ceremony
Earlier this month, GISMA held a Farewell Ceremony for MBA students. Certificates were presented to the first cohort of part-time MBA students on the Maastricht School of Management programme.
Students were presented with their degrees by Professor Maurits Van Rooijen and GISMA Dean Dr Steve Priddy. Thorsten Thiel, Managing Director of GISMA, was also attending.
Professor Maurits Van Rooijen gave a welcome speech which reminded students of the new family that had been created by the students and that they would remain a valuable resource throughout life.
The ceremony included awards to two students: Jana Wemken, who scored the highest marks for her dissertation, and class representative Kristina Horn, who received a certificate of appreciation for her engagement with her classmates and GISMA.
Hatem Oueslati, who gave a speech on behalf of the students, spoke of his pride in the GISMA and how he looked forward to working with staff and faculty in sustaining and building on what has already been achieved.
The farewell ceremony was concluded with guest speaker Wael Zakkar, founder of the consulting firm Global Bridges.
He spoke of the need for a strong moral compass as well as an entrepreneurial mind-set in business, and how the two positively reinforce each other.
Dr Priddy said: “It was a pleasure to attend the Farewell Ceremony at GISMA Business School in Hannover.”
Finally, all attendees were invited for refreshments. GISMA Programme Manager Yvonne Atieno distributed roses to each student, and everyone was entertained by Saliou Cissokho (pictured left), a renowned kora player from Senegal.
GISMA welcomes these students into the alumni network, and extends a big thank you to everyone involved in organising this event.
